Match Report – Leeds United 2, Hull City 2 (Tuesday 9th November)
The Tigers came away from their game with Leeds United at Elland Road on Tuesday night with a 2-2 draw despite finishing the match with 10 men.
It was a real rollercoaster night for Nigel Pearson’s side, who took the lead with a stunning 30-yard free kick from John Bostock in the 14th minute. That was cancelled out by Bradley Johnson 12 minutes before half time and the sides went in all square at the interval.
The deadlock lasted well into the second half until Andy O’Brien put Leeds in front with just under 20 minutes to play.
When Bostock was then sent off for a second bookable offence, it looked like City were heading for defeat until Johnson sliced Tom Cairney’s corner into his own net in the 82nd minute to level the scores once again.

John Bostock will serve a one-match suspension following his red card against Leeds and will miss the trip to Preston on Friday night.

About totesport.com and Hull City AFC
In June 2009, totesport became the proud sponsors of Hull City, signing a two-year sponsorship deal.
Hull’s chairman Paul Duffen commented: “This is one of the most important commercial partnerships in the history of the Club and we are looking forward to working closely with the totesport team in delivering this fantastic partnership opportunity.”
Totesport Chief Executive Trevor Beaumont said: “We’re delighted to announce our sponsorship with Hull City and the fact that we’re breaking new ground in becoming the first UK bookmaker with a major high street presence to have our name on the front of a Premier League shirt.
“We know the Tigers dare to dream, and this deal offers totesport a dream opportunity to link up with such a vibrant brand that not only strengthens our reputation here in the UK but globally as well.
“With many shops located in and around Hull we have the opportunity to develop our relationship within the community as well as providing a service in the stadium, and further through our telephone and internet betting channels for Tigers and football fans all over the world.”
Hull City were founded in 1904 and joined the Football League soon afterward for the 1904/05 season. Hull’s first games were played at The Boulevard, the home of rugby league club Hull FC. They then moved to Anlaby Road before finally settling down at Boothferry Park after the second world war.
They played at Boothferry Park until 2002, when it was demolished and Hull moved to their current ground, the KC Stadium. The new ground has a capacity of 25,404 and under the ownership of Hull City Council, is also used to host Rugby League matches and music events.
Hull’s rise to the Premier League began when they won consecutive promotions in 2003/04 and 2004/05, to reach the Championship. Under the leadership of Phil Brown, Hull reached the Championship play-offs in 2007/08 and beat Bristol City 1-0 at the final at Wembley, to secure top-flight football.
It was Hull City’s first promotion to English football’s top division and their ascent from the bottom division of the Football League to the top in just five seasons, is the third-fastest ever.
