Ballack – I have total faith in Turnbull
Sunday, March 14th, 2010
Chelsea could be without senior keepers Petr Cech and Henrique Hilario against Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek – but midfielder Michael Ballack does not think it will be a problem.
Cech (calf) and Hilario (groin) are both struggling so the Blues were forced to hand a Premier League debut to 25-year-old Ross Turnbull in the win over West Ham on Saturday.
And the former Middlesbrough youngster is set to stay in goal for the visit of Inter (Chelsea 8/13, draw 12/5, Inter 4/1) who are managed by one-time Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
The Blues (9/2 Champions League Outright) need to overturn a 2-1 scoreline from the first leg in Milan and Ballack is adamant Turnbull will not let the side down.
The Germany captain said: “Everybody has confidence in him because we see him in training every day and he’s really working hard. He’s a good keeper and everybody has trust in him, no problem.
“This is football. Sometimes you get big, big chances and I think the main thing is that we stay together and everybody trusts each other in this squad.”
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Florent Malouda will play further forward after he was deployed as a makeshift left-back at the San Siro.
