Hodgson plays down Europa League importance

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson says he will rest some players against Roma in the Europa League as staying in the Premier League is more important.
The Cottagers (7/4 to beat Roma in the match betting) go into the game off the back of a hard earned win against Hull on Monday and with a trip to Manchester City to come on Sunday.
Hodgson is already without Simon Davies,Danny Murphy,Andrew Johnson and Kagisho Dikgacoi, but says he will more than likely rotate his squad for the game against the Serie A giants (12/1 to win the Europa League outright).
“It is the league that counts and we make no apologies for resting players because that is our priority,” said Hodgson.
“At the same time we are trying our very best and so far have done well in both.”
Fulham (2/1 win Group E in the group betting) are currently top of Group E going into the game, with four points from their first two games.
Roma, who will be without Franceso Totti, Juan and Marco Motta, have endured a difficult start to the season and manager Claudio Raineri will be wary of Fulham having already been upset by Basle in the first round of matches.
