Premier League Betting Preview
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009Just three Premier League matches for you tonight, but with three of the top five in action there’s plenty of betting opportunities to get stuck in to!
Chelsea look to close the gap on leaders Manchester United further tonight as they travel to Portsmouth. Three wins on the bounce for the new Manager has given the team a renewed vigour and in Pompey they face a team they’ve never lost to in the Premier League. The best Pompey have mustered against Guus Hiddink’s men is a 1-1 draw at Fratton park at the beginning of last season. Pompey have taken just five points out of a possible eighteen in their last six matches and this will be a toughy. You can back the home team at 11/2 with totesport, with Chelsea and the draw 8/15 and 14/5 respectively.
Struggling West Brom face goal-shy Arsenal at the Hawthornes at 1945. West Brom have lost their last two at home and haven’t won at all in the Premiership since the middle of January. Arsenal on the other have drawn their last five league games and are goalless in their last four, with three of those matches taking place at the Emirates. However, if they are ever going to break their duck it’ll be against this West Brom team who’ve conceded 51 goals this season, the most in the Premier league. Arsenal are a 4/7 chance here, with the Baggies 5/1 and the draw 14/5, all with totesport.
Tonight’s live game sees Liverpool take on Sunderland at Anfield. It’s a must win game for the Reds whilst Sunderland look to be the second team from the north east to subject Liverpool to more misery in the space of four days. Liverpools woeful loss to Boro on Saturday means they’re in desperate need for three points tonight, as the gap widens with leaders United. Liverpool are unbeaten at home but have dropped points against Stoke, Fulham, West ham, Hull, Everton and Man City. No team can win the Premier league with that record, that’s for sure. Sunderland haven’t lost in four including three draws on the road, so won’t be a push over tonight. You can back Liverpool to bounce back at 4/9, whilst the away team and the draw are 7/1 and 3/1 respectively with totesport.
Totesport will be betting live in-running on tonight’s Liverpool versus Sunderland match.
