Rafa ready to turn corner
Monday, November 9th, 2009
Rafael Benitez is confident his Liverpool players will unleash their frustration on Birmingham at Anfield on Monday (Liverpool 4/11, draw 7/2, Birmingham 8/1 match bets).
The Merseysiders have managed just one victory in eight matches in all competitions and their Premier League and Champions League aspirations hang in the balance.
Anfield boss Benitez has also come under scrutiny from a section of supporters and past players for not finding adequate replacements for key men Fernando Torres (11/4 First and Last Goalscorer) and Steven Gerrard and for prioritising Europe over domestic affairs.
The Spaniard says his players are angry at the way their season is unfolding and are determined to turn the corner.
Benitez said: “Everyone here, every fan, every player, wants to see the team doing better.
“I have confidence we will improve. Winning a couple of games in a row will boost everyone’s confidence.”
Torres and Gerrard will have late fitness tests on groin injuries and £20m Italy international Alberto Aquilani could make his home debut.
