Rest the cure for Ferguson
Monday, February 15th, 2010
Sir Alex Ferguson believes having the weekend off will give Manchester United the advantage when they travel to take on AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday (AC Milan 8/5 draw 11/5 Man United 7/5 Champions League – match betting).
An early exit from the FA Cup at the hands of bitter rivals Leeds meant the Premier League champions (Man United 13/10 Premier League – Outright) could rest ahead of the last-16 first-leg at the San Siro.
Milan beat Udinese 3-2 on Friday in Serie A and Ferguson is convinced the extra time off will give his players the edge.
The Scot has also suggested the Serie A title-chasers have been weakened by the loss of Brazil superstar Kaka to Real Madrid.
“It’s a good time for us to be going to Milan,” said Ferguson.
“They played this weekend (beating Udinese 3-2 on Friday night), they’ve lost Kaka and have a few injuries, whereas we aren’t playing this weekend and we have had a good rest.”
