Ronaldo coy over Real Madrid future as he admits United wrench
Sunday, February 14th, 2010
Portugal international winger Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to rule out the prospect of returning to Manchester United one day.
The 25-year-old, who will hope to be one of the stars on display at this summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa (Portugal 14/1 Top European Team), left Old Trafford for Real Madrid last summer.
The Spanish giants paid a world record fee of £80m for the 25-year-old but Ronaldo, who spent six years with the Red Devils, has admitted he might not see his career out at the Bernabeu.
He told the News of the World: “I am still interested in watching Manchester United and, you never know, maybe in the future I could return to play there.
“It’s always possible. I want to fulfil my contract here but, in the future, only God knows.
“I will not say I am not happy here at Real Madrid.
“I am really happy and everyone knows this is my club but, of course, I miss Manchester United, the boss, the players, because I left family there.”
Ronaldo won the Premier League three times during his time with United as well as the Champions League and FA Cup, among other honours.
