United welcome back Ferdinand for Hull clash
Friday, January 22nd, 2010
Manchester United (1/7 to beat Hull) will welcome back Rio Ferdinand for Saturday’s only Premier League game, against Hull (12/1) at Old Trafford, following a three month absence through injury.
The England centre-back (9/1 to score at anytime on Saturday) has not featured for the Premier League champions since their 2-0 defeat at Liverpool in October due to a troublesome calf problem.
Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Rio has been training very well in the last few weeks. He will play on Saturday.”
Ferdinand’s return is timely for Ferguson following this week’s news that John O’Shea will be sidelined for the rest of the season with a thigh injury.
Meanwhile, United say Owen Hargreaves is continuing to make progress following major surgery on both knees and 15 months on the sidelines.
The midfielder has been doing some training with the United reserves and Ferguson has revealed he will select the former Bayern Munich man in his 25-man Champions League squad.
