Alfred Dunhill Championship Betting Preview
Wednesday, December 10th, 2008The European Tour (Race to Dubai) parks up in South Africa this week for the Alfred Dunhill Championship. There’s a decent field to pick from including Lee Westwood at the top of the betting.
Westwood is still searching for that elusive first victory of 2008 and he’s a 13/2 shot with totesport. The Englishman has been uber-consistent with numerous top ten finishes on tour this year and a runners up spot at the US Open. Could this week be the one to break his duck?
Second in the betting is 8/1 chance Charl Schwartzel. After successfully tipping up Henrik Stenson to win the Nedbank Challenge last week, we’re advising you take a piece of the 8/1 available at totesport on Schwartzel each way. The young South African, a winner on tour last year has an excellent record in this tournament. If you excuse his missed cut blip of last season, he has a win and two runners up spots in the preceding three outings and deserves respect here in 2008.
Another South African worthy of note is 12/1 chance Rory Sabbatini. The exuberant Springbok has had a rough ride of it in the past 12 months but showed signs of renewed form in the Nedbank last week when finishing fourth and it might be worth sticking with him here.
Another Rory, of the McIlroy variety also finds himself a 12/1 shot with totesport. The young Ulsterman has gone close twice in the past three months to get his maiden tour victory and although he’s not played the Leopard Creek course before, it won’t be long before he gets off the mark with a win.
The Dunhill Championship begins early on Thursday with live coverage on Skysports.
