Horse Racing Betting at Ascot
Friday, January 16th, 2009As the countdown to Cheltenham continues there’s not too much to get excited about this weekend, with Saturday’s cards coming from Ascot, Haydock, Lingfield, Naas and Wincanton. There are plenty of betting opportunities as any Saturday, but most interest will be on the Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot.
Master Minded is the star of the show and it’s fair to say the small field is down to the two mile chasing superstar’s entry here.
The Tingle Creek winner and reigning Champion Chaser has two more runs scheduled before looking to retain his crown at Cheltenham in March. If he comes through tomorrow fine he’ll have one final prep run at Newbury in the Game Spirit in February.
The Paul Nicholls’ trained six your old is currently a 2/5 favourite for the Queen Mother Champion Chase with totesport and it’s no surprise that he’s another odds on shot tomorrow at Ascot. You can get 1/4 about his chances against four other runners Petit Robin (11/2), Or Noir De Somoza (9/1), Natal (25/1) and Mahogany Blaze (33/1).
This should be a foregone conclusion for the favourite and with each-way terms only placing the first two, there might be some value to be had in totesport’s win only betting without Master Minded. Petit Robin heads the betting in this market at 11/10 with David Pipe’s talking horse Or Noir De Somoza a 15/8 chance.
