QUEEN ELIZABETH II STAKES ASCOT SATURDAY BLOG
Thursday, September 25th, 2008The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes race, run on the round course at Ascot on Saturday, promises to be a superb affair and you can find all the best racing odds at totesport online betting.
While it may be unwise to dismiss the older horses at this year´s renewal (older horses have been successful in five of the last 10 runnings) it would seem to rest between the 3-y-o´s Henrythenavigator, Ravens Pass and Tamayuz.
The Aidan O´Brien trained Hentrythenavigator failed in his attempt to win a fifth consecutive Group 1 in the Prix du Moulin finishing fifth.
That was on soft ground, however, and he is much more effective on a faster surface having previously beaten Ravens Pass a head at Goodwood on good-firm. The ground should be perfect for him on Saturday and this dual Guineas winner will be hard to beat.
The John Gosden trained Ravens Pass ran another fine race last time landing a Group 2 at Goodwood offering some hope that he might improve past Henrythenavigator. But we think this is unlikely.
The Freddie Head trained Tamayuz has had a great season losing only once when there were valid excuses. Subsequently ridden much more positively he beat Ravens Pass 1.5l in the Prix Jean Prat and impressing greatly to win last time out in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard – Jacques le Marois.
Dave Bonilla had the Nayef colt handy the whole way and travelling very easily he went clear from the filly Natagora and the Group 1 winning Sageburg back in fourth. Tamayuz is the selection on the back of that fine effort.
