Solario Stakes Group 3 Sandown Saturday
Thursday, August 28th, 2008A very interesting Group 3 for 2-y-o´s that hasn´t been kind to favourites with only two obliging in the last 10 years.
Recent form has been important with 40% successful and 60% placed in their previous outings.
John Gosden has been the most successful trainer with three winners from four entries in the past decade (successful last year with high class miler Ravens Pass).
Richard Hannon has had two winners from eight entries. Clive Brittain, Mark Johnston, Sylvester Kirk and Brian Meehan have each scored once.
Gosden´s Doctor Crane was workmanlike in winning his first two races but disappointed behind Kirk´s Talking Hands at Ascot.
Talking Hands disappointed himself in his next race at Ripon on gd-sft over 6f.
The two we like are Johnston´s Cry Of Freedom and Jeremy Noseda´s Parisian Art. Parisian Art, who cost 130,000 Gns as a yearling, is out of a half sister to the top class winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes (6f) Seazun but showed plenty of stamina when cruising to a 5l victory at Newmarket over 7f on July 26 on his racecourse debut.
He certainly looks an exciting prospect with totesport online betting.
Cry Of Freedom by the Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry is very stoutly bred, his dam having won over 1.5m. He was quite impressive when winning over 7f at Newbury last time but previously seemed to need all of the 7f on gd-fm at Sandown.
Perhaps he is ready for a step up to 1m and Parisian Art is the selection.
