Asif puts Australia on the rack
Sunday, January 3rd, 2010
A career-best 6-41 from Mohammad Asif helped Pakistan (8/15 with Totesport to win the 2nd Test) bowl Australia (2/1, the draw 13/2) out for a paltry 127 on a rain-delayed opening day of the second Test at Sydney.
It was Mohammad Sami who did the early damage when he reduced the hosts to 10-3 as Phillip Hughes and Australia captain Ricky Ponting fell for ducks in successive balls, while Stephen Hughes went for six.
Seamer Asif took out the middle order in devastating fashion as only Nathan Hauritz (21) and Mitchell Johnson (38) put up any sort of fight.
Pakistan were 14-0 in reply when bad light ended play early.
