Power predicting exciting final versus Whitlock
Sunday, January 3rd, 2010
Phil Taylor (1/9 to win on match coupon) is expecting a great match against Simon Whitlock in the PDC World Championship final at Alexandra Palace this evening.
The 14-time world champion eased into the final with a 6-0 victory over Mark Webster but should face a tougher challenge against Whitlock (5/1 to win on match coupon).
It is the first appearance in the world championships for the Australian, but he has been looking in fine form and beat five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld 6-5 in the semi-finals after being 4-2 down to the Dutchman at one stage.
‘The Power’ his ten 180s and had a three-dart average of 106 during his victory over Webster, admitting he went out to attack his opponent.
Taylor (9/2 to win 7-0 on match coupon) has only lost one set in the competition as he looks for his 15th world championship title but knows Whitlock could be a dangerous opponent.
“It’s going to be a cracking final. I think me and Simon have played the best in the two halves,” said the world number one.
“He’s a good player, great under pressure, his finishing this week has been fantastic.”
Whitlock (16/1 to win 7-6 on match coupon) revealed after his semi-final that he had an attack of nerves when throwing for the match and could not believe it when his dart landed in the double.
