Byrne free for England clash

Wales’ Six Nations hopes have been boosted with the news that full-back Lee Byrne has had his two-week ban overturned and is now free to face England (5/1 to be the outright winners) on Saturday.
The 29-year-old was originally given the suspension after being charged with misconduct for his brief appearance as an illegal 16th player during Ospreys’ (11/4 to Mangers League Grand Final winners) Heineken Cup victory over Leicester Tigers.
However, after appealing to a three-man panel on Tuesday Byrne has successfully seen his ban reduced to a 5,000 euro fine, leaving him free to face England at Twickenham this weekend.
“An independent appeal committee allowed the appeal brought by Ospreys player Lee Byrne against the level of sanction imposed by an independent disciplinary hearing,” a statement from the European Rugby Club read.
“Mr Byrne is free to play again.”
The news means that Wales (10/1 to complete a Grand Slam) coach Warren Gatland will be able to recall Byrne at full-back after he missed the autumn internationals through injury.
Byrne’s return should see James Hook return to his usual midfield starting role after he covered for Byrne.
Gatland is set to announce his team for the clash against England on Wednesday, looking for their fourth straight Six Nations win over Martin Johnson’s men, with Jamie Roberts set to partner Hook at centre.
