Scotland still confident – Parks
Saturday, March 6th, 2010
Fly-half Dan Parks is adamant that Scotland are still confident of not finishing the Six Nations campaign bottom of the pile (Scotland 4/6 Wooden Spoon) following recent narrow defeats against Wales and Italy.
The Scots lost their opening match to favourites France (1/5 to win Grand Slam) before suffering a late collapse to lose 31-24 in Wales and then losing a lead before going down 16-12 in Italy.
However Parks claims the squad have spoken with coach Andy Robinson and are now in good spirits ahead of next weekend’s clash with England at Murrayfield.
“We had a really thorough talking over with Andy,” Parks told BBC Scotland.
“I have to say confidence is quite good at the moment. We just need to close off games.”
He added: “He was very honest and it was appreciated by all the boys, which was really good.
“We sat in it and took it. It was tough, but it was really good for the team.
“We had ourselves in a position to win the game against Italy and against Wales we should have won the game full stop.
“Confidence is still there. It is just a case of putting in an 80-minute performance instead of a 75-minute performance.”
